White Guy On The Bus

During the 2017 – 2018 Season, Niles West Theatre will present five productions under the umbrella theme of “And Justice For All.” Our mission is to confront audiences with shows that will examine the responsibilities of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Synopsis

A wealthy white businessman and a struggling black single mom ride the same bus week after week. As they get to know each other, the threads that tie them together gradually unravel in a complex web of moral ambiguity, revenge, and racial biases. Once we meet his wife and close family friends, the audience is left to examine the norms and distances found in the racial and socioeconomic divide of modern America.

This extremely relevant drama premiered at Northlight Theatre (Skokie) in 2015 and is as provocative and awe-inspiring as the day it was written. This is a play for our time and guarantees discussions long after the final light fades.

The dates of our performances are:

Thursday, August 31 – 10 am (free community performance) and 5 pm
Friday, September 1 – 4 pm and 7:30 pm
Saturday, September 2 – 7:30 pm
