D219 ROBOTICS TEAMS CROWNED STATE CHAMPS; WILL COMPETE AT WORLDS COMPETITION
On Saturday, March 11, the VEX Robotics High School State Championships were held at Rotolo Middle School in Batavia, IL. D219 Robotics teams were crowned the State Champions, and are qualified for the Worlds Competition that will be held in Louisville, KY from April 19 – 22.
The alliance of Niles North 333U, Niles West 321A and 1965A from Stevenson High School were crowned the State Tournament Champions. Niles North’s 333U went undefeated the entire day, and also won the Sportsmanship Award. This is the fourth straight year that Niles North has won the VEX Robotics State Championships. This is Niles West’s first VEX Robotics state title.
Niles North’s 333X won the Excellence Award, the highest award presented in the VEX Robotics Competition, given to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in a VEX Robotics Program. The team also won the Robot Skills Award, and were Tournament Finalists. They partnered with West’s 321H and a team from Benet Academy to become Finalists. This
alliance also qualified for Worlds.
D219 is sending four teams to attend the World Competition. About 540 high school teams from more than 20 countries will be in attendance, competing to become the best robotics
team in the world.

Niles West 321A: Adam Majcher, Robert Majcher, Patrick O’Dwyer, Ethan Moldofsky and Jay Monga.
Niles North 333X: David Fernandez-Wang, Rosie Hankes, Jordan Greenfield, Abhay Patel and Brendan Ward.
Niles West 321H: John Mitchell, Katia Teryokhina, Alen Cvitanovic, Michael Leon and Dennis Angelov.
