Niles West Theatre presents “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” on October 12 through 14 in the Robert L. Johnson Auditorium at 5701 West Oakton. Skokie. With music and lyrics by William Finn, based on the book by Rachel Sheinkin, and conceived by Rebecca Feldman, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” has charmed audiences across the country with its fast-paced, wildly funny book and a truly fresh and vibrant score.
Join an eclectic group of mid-pubescents as they vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake.
Performances are: 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 13; and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 14. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students, senior citizens and children. Contact the Box Office at (847) 626-2633 or order tickets online by visiting the Niles West Theatre website: www.nileswesttheatre.com. There is a free community performance at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 12.
