The Niles Township High School District 219 Board of Education at its July 17 meeting approved the appointment of Dianna Yu to be Niles North High School’s Director of Science, effective August 2. Yu currently teaches Honors Biology and Aquaponics at Lane Tech College Prep High School in Chicago. She designed curriculum maps aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in both Biology and Aquaponics and also created the curriculum in both those classes. Yu also serves as Data and Assessment Coordinator at the high school, implementing school-wide data analysis with an emphasis on development of student growth assessments.
Prior to Lane Tech, Yu taught Biology and Chemistry at Betty Shabazz International Charter School — DuSable Leadership Academy in Chicago.
Yu earned a Master of Education in Instructional Leadership in Secondary Education Science (Biology) from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from UIC. She is currently finishing her Master of Arts in School Leadership (Principal Endorsement) at Northeastern Illinois University.
