Marie Walton was the subject of a surprise award at the April 4 D219 Board of Education meeting, when Superintendent Steven Isoye and the Board members took time out of a lengthy meeting to recognize her for her distinguished service as Recording Board Secretary for the past four years.
“I would like to personally thank Marie for offering me such a wonderful orientation to the district since I came on board as the new superintendent this school year,” said Superintendent Steven Isoye. “She has been a wealth of information in helping me learn who’s who and what’s what at the district, and her gracious personality has served our district well.”
Walton decided to move to Niles North as Executive Administrative Assistant for the Fine Arts Department.
“It was a tough decision for me to make the move,” Walton said. “I truly love the people I worked with at the district office and I really enjoyed working with our Board of Education members. But I have also always loved the arts and theatre, and when I learned that Niles North Fine Arts was looking for a new assistant, I felt that this was an exciting move for me to make.”
Walton began working at D219 in the superintendent’s office in June 2013.
