Omar Alebiosu will be Niles West High School’s new Director of Physical Welfare, effective July 1. The Niles Township High School District 219 Board of Education approved the appointment at its June 4 meeting.
Alebiosu has been Assistant Athletic Director at Niles North High School for the past two years. In addition to assisting the Athletic Director with the responsibilities of that department, he also served as a teacher leader, teaching Varsity Physical Education and facilitating mindfulness days with varsity athletes. Before coming to D219, Alebiosu taught physical education at Evanston Township High School for three years. Prior to that he taught physical education at Dewey Elementary School in Evanston. At Dewey he created Progressive Young Men, a mentoring group as an alternative intervention, and he helped rewrite the District 65 Physical Education curriculum.
Alebiosu has extensive coaching experience, including football and wrestling at Evanston Township High School and at Vernon Hills High School.
Alebiosu earned a Master of Education, Principal Licensure, from Concordia University. He holds a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from American College of Education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education from Florida State University.
Alebiosu is a proud alumnus of Niles North High School.
