Festival of One Act Plays

Niles West Theatre presents a festival of student-directed plays on December 12 and 13 in the Black Box Theatre at 5701 W. Oakton, Skokie. Twenty different 10-minute plays will be presented over two days featuring 34 actors and 20 student directors. Directors are members of the 6th period Directing class and have worked all semester to prepare for these public performances. Performances are 4 p.m .and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 12 and Saturday, December 13. There is a suggested $5 donation for admission.

NWN Receives ALL-KEMPA for 4th Year

NILES WEST NEWS RECEIVES ALL-KEMPA RATING FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT YEAR

 

 

Niles West News (NWN), the online Niles West High School newspaper, earned an ALL-KEMPA rating, the highest rating a publication can receive, from the Kettle Moraine Press Association (KEMPA), a regional journalism organization. This is the fourth straight year that NWN has merited an ALL-KEMPA rating.

West Debate Success Continues

The Niles West Debate Team competed at three tournaments from November 7 to 11 and the team continues its successful season.

 

3rd Annual Coffeehouse Cabaret

On November 21 and 22, the Niles West Black Box Theatre will be transformed into a Cabaret Coffeehouse, featuring students, parents, staff and alumni performances of music, songs, scenes and more.. This fundraiser is presented by the Niles West Theatre Patrons. Tickets are $15 at the door for students and $20 for adults.  Doors open at 7 p.m. and acts begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. Seating is limited. Included in admission is unlimited coffee, tea or cocoa and an assortment of baked goods. The Black Box Theatre is located at Niles West High School, 5701 W. Oakton, Skokie.

West Robotics Team Wins Second, Qualifies for State

The Niles West Robotic Team competed in the VEX Skyrise competition at Geneseo Middle School in Geneseo, IL recently. Niles West sent three teams to the competition. Team 321A and 321C made it to the finals, took second place overall, and qualified for state. Team 321C also won the “Most with Simplest” design award which is given to a team that was able to score lots of points using a simple robot. Team 321B made it to the semifinal competition.
