Database and Annotated Bibliography Assignment
Learning Target: Students will create an annotated bibliography using online databases.
Step 1: Complete the Information Literacy Survey
Step 2: Access the U. S. History in Context database through the IRC database webpage.
Step 3: Search on the key words "Dust Bowl". Locate the article "Living in the Dust Bowl (1934, by Anne Marie Lowe)". Read the entire article. Generate the MLA citation for the article and copy the citation.
Step 4: Open a Google document, name it and save the document. Paste the MLA citation for the first article into the Google document. Add an annotation for the article (this is a brief summary of the article).
Step 5: Access the Chicago Tribune Historical Archive database through the IRC database webpage.
Step 6: Search on the key words "dust storm". Locate the article "Kansas Storms Blow Surface Soil from Farms".
Step 7: Open the free citation maker Knightcite.com. Create a citation for the article "Kansas Storms Blow Surface Soil from Farms". Copy and paste the citation into your Google document.
Step 8: Read the article "Kansas Storms Blow Surface Soil from Farms". Create an annotation for the article.
Step 9: Use the databases to find an additional article on the Great Depression or Migrant Farm Workers. Create an annotated citation for the article.
Step 10: Your completed assignment should be an annotated bibliography of three sources. Once your assignment is completed, log on to Turnitin.com and submit the paper to your teacher. Please see your individual teacher for log on information.
Step11: Complete the Information Literacy Exit Survey.
