Health and Safety Concerns
Students who self-report or are reported to have thoughts or actions of harming oneself or others are required to be assessed by a school psychologist or school social worker. If Niles Central staff deem it necessary, a more extensive evaluation may be required by a mental health professional in the community.
Niles Central works closely with a police consultant, a police officer for the Skokie Police Department, at Niles West H.S. The police consultant is involved with all police matters that occur at school.
Student Assistance ProgramDistrict 219 provides a comprehensive Student Assistance Program (SAP). The SAP coordinates school and community resources to assist families and students in our district. The goal of the SAP is to provide early intervention and support services to students identified as having difficulties achieving success. Based on information from the school and parents, students can choose to participate in educational groups in the school or a community program. Primarily, SAP coordinates a variety of drug and alcohol prevention and intervention approaches. For more detailed information, please contact the SAP coordinators at your home school - Niles North 847-626-2342 or Niles West - 847-626-2950.
