Students Show Skills at State

Niles Township High School District 219 students participated in the SkillsUSA State Contest, held April 26 through 28 in Springfield, IL. SkillsUSA competitions showcase the best career and technical students in the nation. Contests begin locally and continue through the state and national levels. The philosophy of the competitions is to reward students for excellence, to involve industry in directly evaluating student performance and to keep training relevant to employers’ needs.

 

Results:

 

Niles West:  Connor Dyer, Brianna Clark, Kanwal Merchant, Daniela Lozano and Matt Tan received fourth place, Health Bowl Team. Connor Dyer received sixth place in the state for Medical Terminology.

 

Niles North:  Amanda Gomez received third place for Medical Terminology and Sareena Mao, Aisha Mujtaba, Michelle Jacob, Anum Rehmat, Nensi Valsadia, Yassaman Yarmahmoudi, Faiza Naqvi and Amanda Gomez took fifth place, Health Bowl Team.

 

The students participate in the Health Careers Class taught by Lisa Dunham at Niles North and Niles West.
