Students to Represent State at National History Day
Seven Niles North High School history students will represent the state of Illinois at the National History Day competition held June 11 through 14 in College Park, MD. The Chicago Metro History Education Center and the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency announced the 2012 Illinois delegation that includes about 70 of the finest student historians across the state.
National History Day delegates from Niles North:
Zainab Khan, Michelle Scaunas and Yuliya Yichvidin for senior group documentary “Reacting Against Nativism: The Lager Beer Riot of 1855.”
Lindsay Pietz and Karen Savella for senior group exhibit “The Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters: Equal Working Rights for All.”
Kelly Oh and Margie Chubin for senior group website “Ben Reitman: The Doctor Who Gave Societal Misfits a Purpose.”
