Students Attend JA's You're Hired Event
Last month, eight students from Niles North and Niles West High school had the opportunity to practice professional development skills through competitive interviewing, resume writing and career-oriented workshops while participating in a program called “JA You’re Hired!” The program, developed by Junior Achievement (JA) and presented by University of Phoenix Chicago Campus, brought together more than 130 students from nine Chicagoland high schools at the Chicago Marriott O’Hare.
During the “JA You’re Hired!” event, students participated in workshops and competitions that focused on professional competencies such as in-demand workforce skills, networking, social media do’s and don’ts, interviewing and leadership.
District 219 students who participated: Rehma Bokhari from Niles West and Elana Garay, Maralmaa Ganzorig, Shikha Guruji, Lijo Luka, Marissa Matesi, Abdus Saleem and Hussain Khemani from Niles North.
Marissa Matesi won a $100 Discover gift card for her second place finish in the Interviewing Challenge.
