Passion for the Arts: Arts College Information Night

in

Students are often encouraged to follow their passion. For visual and performing arts students, what does that mean as far as pursuing their craft in college and beyond? High school students and their parents are invited to attend Passion for the Arts: A Visual and Performing Arts College Information Night from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1 in the Niles North High School Auditorium at 9800 Lawler, Skokie. This event is sponsored by the District 219 Fine Arts Department and Counseling Departments, and the Central Suburban League Fine Arts Directors. Representatives from the following schools will be present: School of the Art Institute, Tribeca Flashpoint Academy, Columbia College, Northwestern University, University of Illinois, DePaul University, American Academy of Arts and Northern Illinois University. District 219 Fine Arts staff and alumni will also be on hand to answer questions. Whether a student’s interest is in dance, film, graphic design, music, theatre, 3-D animation or the visual arts, this is a unique opportunity to ask questions and learn from those who are following their passion and living their dreams.

The evening will begin with an introduction and assessment by District 219 Fine Arts Director Mary Jo Papich. Topics covered include choosing a career, college choices, and degrees of study. There will be breakout sessions in each of the various disciplines and college alumni to present their experiences. This is an important presentation for all high school students who are involved in the arts and considering a future in the arts.

This event is open to all high school students and their parents.
