History Fair Awards
Fourteen Niles Township High School District 219 students were honored with awards at the Chicago Metro History Fair Finalists Award Ceremony held May 13 at the Chicago History Museum. The students were recognized for reaching the finals of the Chicago Metro History Fair as well as presented with special awards for exceptional History Fair projects.
District 219 2012 award winners:
Niles North:
Regina Roberg received the Executive Director’s Award for Superior Historical Scholarship; Judy Cabael and Cathleen Lee received Special Recognition for Hull House History; Emma Decker received the Award for Excellence in Chicago Women’s History; Sally Oh and Thea Daguison received the Loyola University Urban History Award; Lindsay Pietz and Karen Savella received the George Javaras Memorial Award for History; Jonathan Oh and April Hernandez received the Les Orear Prize for Superior Labor History; and Aisha Mujtaba of Niles North received the Award for Health and Medicine History and a scholarship award from DePaul University.
Niles West:
Erin Fair and Bianca Galan received the Javaras History of the Arts Award; and Emily Ong received the Obenshain Award for Excellence in Architectural History and a scholarship award from Loyola University Chicago.
